Rules For the Well Mannered Blogger

Okay, I will admit I had no clue, quite literally, that there are no rules for blogging, but I am beginning to realize there a few rules for the "well mannered" blogger. I have a few that I have fumbled or stumbled upon recently which I would like to share with you. There are three that I have come up with thus far. They are:

  • Don't post embarassing or unflattering pictures of those you love
  • Don't post pictures of those who guard their privacy or are very shy without first asking
  • Don't use other people's pictures for you own website

Now there are problems here because what about all those friends and acquaintances out there who don't know you don't want you picture out there or your don't know they are shy or private? Or for that matter what about the ones that are randomly taken at family or social events and later you find out that your face is plastered everywhere? This internet blogging thing can be complicated, unruly, and sticky, but the simple truth is this...

If you love your family and friends you should following these easy guidelines:

  • "When in doubt leave it out"
  • Always ask before you do something different even if you are well intentioned
  • If it would be embarassing or misinterpreted it's best to leave it out
  • No posting of other people's pictures on your own blog without asking first
  • Give people the benefit of the doubt if they blow it...they probably aren't as well mannered as you are about blogging or simply didn't give it much thought.
I am solicting more rules to learn about blogging manners if you care to share your thoughts. This much I know: If you love and respect your family and friends these are SOME of the primary rules for the "well-mannered" blogger.

Respectfully submitted, a novice blogger.
